This is a injection moulded pouring shield for the GEA promixer. Firstly, it is a visual part and it is clear, which requires very high standard in production, no color dots or any kind of contamination allowed; and the pouring shield should withstand the test in a dish washer with the temperature of 135℉ (about 57℃） for 2 hours. Considering the high standard of clearness and relatively complex shape of the product, Meike engineers and GEA engineers worked close and finally decided this part should be injection moulded from Tritan MX810 resin. Eastman Tritan™ MX810 is an amorphous copolyester with excellent appearance and clarity. Its most outstanding features are excellent toughness, hydrolytic stability, and heat and chemical resistance. This new generation copolyester can also be molded into various applications without incorporating high levels of residual stress. Tritan MX810 has been tested for FDA/ISO 10993 and USP Class VI Biological Evaluation testing after Gamma and ETO sterilization. With the hard work from Meike and GEA team, the pouring shield is quickly approved by GEA, it is another perfect injection moulded part by Meike.

Here at Meike, we always understand how important it is to make a part more competitve for our customers by reducing the cost. When the pouring made from Tritan is fully approved, we started to work with GEA about reducing the cost, as Tritan is an expensive resin, PETG comes into our consideration. Polyethylene terephthalate glycol, known as PETG or PET-G, is a thermoplastic polyester that delivers significant chemical resistance, durability, and formability for manufacturing. PETG is an adaptation of PET (Polyethylene terephthalate) where the ‘G’ stands for glycol, which is added at a molecular level to offer different chemical properties. PET uses the same monomers as the glycol modified PETG, but PETG has greater strength and durability, as well as being more impact resistant and better suited to higher temperatures.

Oweing to Meike’s good experience and stong tech capability, our samples made with PETG has been approved for production, we could achieve good savings for our valued customers.
